"Well, shit," Tina hissed under her breath as she turned to look over her shoulder.  She had been enjoying a quiet Sunday evening with her best friend, but a casual glance into the mirror behind the bar had spoiled everything.
The blonde sitting across from her looked up to see what had caused her friend's exclamation.  Seeing Tina's boss checking out the room from the door, she smiled and held her hand out to Tina.  "Pay up, Bee-itch."
Tina narrowed her eyes at the grinning woman, but reached down for her purse by her chair.  Reaching in, she pulled out a twenty and slapped it into the outstretched hand.  "You know, Amy," she said, returning her purse to the floor.  "You don't have to gloat like that."
"Of course, I do," her best friend countered, slipping the bill into her top.  "How else will I ever teach you not to get your hopes up?  I told you, Sweetie.  Janice do

The striped sundress fluttered listlessly into the chair and didn’t move. As far as Mina knew, it wouldn’t ever move again. Kind of a pity.
The woman leering over her couldn’t have looked more delighted. “Excellent my dear!” She squealed. Her eyes were darting between Mina and the dress as if there were diamonds falling out of them. “I had a feeling that between the two of you, you would be the one to take my offer. I have so much to teach you…”
There she was monologuing again. Mina was hardly going to pay attention to that. Ever since the woman suddenly appeared in her apartment claiming to be a witch and held her and her roommate captive, Mina had been ready to write her off as a screeching loony. The next fifteen minutes of her going on and on about them both having something special and arguing with Amelie over whether or not magic existed didn’t do much but bore Mina&

Rosalyn's Sword - Inanimate
As another minute went by with no service headed her way, The Great Rosalyn: Thief-Slash-Adventurer Extraordinaire (as she liked to call herself when forced to bluff her way out of a tight spot) sighed and tried not to let her impatience show. Out of all of her companions, it was just typical that she - the impatient one who still had to force down the occasional amoral urge - would be the only one who needed to go on a weapon run (she told Meredith her tiny sword wouldn't survive a golem beheading, but no… it was all "use those ninja skills of yours and sneak up on it!" Whatever a hell ninja was…), and naturally she would arrive at the market when everybody was too busy to tend to her. People had a natural tendency to run right past her without even noticing she was there, its true, but while she was usually proud of this she had to admit it wa

When Jerry saw Marcy break out the puppy-dog eyes as soon as they met, he knew he was in trouble.  “What is it this time?” he asked, resignedly.
“Dad’s going to this big fancy-dress party at work, and invited me along.  He’s going as Frank Sinatra, so I wanted to go as Nancy...  I can do the hair with enough hairspray, and I found this cute go-go dancer dress at a thrift shop.”  She spun about to show off the extremely short skirt of her sequined black dress.  With a hem that short it was more of a shirt than a dress.
Jerry couldn’t help but grin at the view.  “OK, so what’s... oh, no.  You’re not thinking of ‘These Boots Were Made For Walking’.”
Marcy started to hum the song as she strutted back and forth in front of him.  “Of course I am.  It’s her best-known song.  I’ve gotta have a pair of high heeled bla

Trust Machines - Morning After
The smell of coffee and cooking pancakes wafted on the air.  A cute twentysomething guy was cooking breakfast for two and keeping an eye on the bedroom door.
The figure that emerged was not what he was expecting.  A broad-shouldered man opened the door, then continued buttoning his shirt.  “Morning, Carl.  Thanks for a lovely night.”
“What, you’re G... a guy?”
“I know, I know.  I’ve insulted your masculinity, yadda yadda yadda.  I’ll be going.”
“Just like that?  You don’t want pancakes?” Carl asked, with the very faintest hint of a grin.
The broad-shouldered man stopped and stared at Carl in puzzlement.  Then he sniffed at the air.  “Those smell really good.”
“That’s the maple syrup.”
“I love maple syrup...”
“I know...  I mean, who doesn’t?”  Carl served up two plates, an

Donna stared at Arwen as she... he?  As he nodded.  “I thought you’d see through it.”  Even his voice sounded different than Donna remembered.
“But how?  I only changed a little bit, and left your face still the same.  Now you look like you’ve always been a man.”
Arwen laughed, and at least that sound was still the same.  “A big part of my work is teaching gender dysphorics how to pass as male or female.  Did you not think I could apply it to myself, or that I had never, before?  Your additions have just made it that much more convincing.”
Donna leaned against the wall to support herself, her perked tiger ears betraying her intense interest.  “I have to say, I’m very impressed.  You carry yourself just like a...”  She stared at the woman sitting beside Arwen, then started to grin.  “And you must be the other from the play-acting earlier.

The children were sleeping in their beds, watched over by Sidney’s mother.  Duncan and Sidney hadn’t had a night out together in a long time, and Duncan wanted to make this one extra special.  After a lovely meal at Sidney’s favourite restaurant, Duncan drove them to their next destination.
“It’s doesn’t take this long to get home, even on the scenic route,” noted Sidney.  “Where are we going?”
“It’s not far now.  See, here’s the driveway.”  Duncan pulled up in front of a quaint cabin on a private, wooded lot.
“Is this your idea of a perfect love nest?” Sidney wondered.
Duncan opened the door with a flourish, revealing an interior that was as rustic as the outside.  He set down a polished wooden box on the table just inside the doo

In Too Deep 2 - Preparation
In the morning, Kelly found Steve sleeping at the kitchen table, beside a laptop displaying completed plans for a birdcage-shaped Disembodied Princess magic trick.  Kelly resisted the urge to tousle the always-rumpled dark hair of the wiry twenty-something guy.  He wasn’t as muscular as Barry, but she found him cute.  And there was something about him this morning...  When she leaned in to look at the plans more closely she brushed against him, and he startled awake.
“Oh!  I’m sorry.  Did you work on these all night?”
Steve blinked at Kelly owlishly.  Something about her seemed off, but he couldn’t put his finger on it.  “Uh...  No?  I was trying to work on an impalement prop, too.  Can’t figure out how to do the levitation part.”
Kelly shrugged.  “Could we do it with me standing up?  If you modified the Disembodied Princess by putting round

Hey all,

Just wanted to point out to anyone who enjoyed the two stories mentioned above that a third story in the series has been posted at my good friend dkfenger's page.  (dkfenger.deviantart.com/)  This is an official follow-up, too.  Not just someone using the idea.  So, head over if you enjoyed Lynda & Cyndi and check out what he's done with them.

Oh, and if you're not familiar with his own work, be sure to check that out, too.  If you like my stuff, you'll love his.  In my personal opinion, his "Trust Machines" series is the most original and most fun concept to come down the inanimate TF road in a very long time.  Check 'em out.

Not right now.  I've started new chapters of Assistants, Inventor, 'Til & my part of dkfenger's Trust Machines universe.  But life has continued to throw me curve balls that have both eaten up my time and keep me in a state of mind that makes it really hard for me to write the light-hearted types of stories that I prefer to write.

Do I hope to get back to it?  Everyday.  Will I?  At this point, I'm afraid I can't give you an honest answer.

Wish me luck.

JMD1961 What was it that drew you into creating stories involving transformations?

I've been into transformation since I was very young.  And I have always written stories, first for myself, and later online.

What got me into transformation in the first place.  That's harder to answer.  I guess my first exposure to it would have been when I started reading Greek myths.  Not to mention various Saturday morning cartoons that featured them.

Hope that answers your question.
